Though cremation services may not be for everyone, this post-death option is certainly on the rise. Here in Hiram, GA and elsewhere, this is certainly true. There are countless reasons a family will choose this for their deceased loved one, and in the spirit of providing you—our lovely community—useful information, our staff here at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home & Crematory would like to partner with you during this difficult time.

Our mission here at Davis-Struempf is to provide our community with kind after-death services, professional guidance, unbiased support planning, post-death care services for loved ones for the days and months to come.

One of the unique after-death services we offer is on-site cremation services in Hiram, GA. We find there are two camps of people when it comes to this option:

  1. Open to learning about cremation services
  2. Turned-off by the concept of cremation (usually due to lack of knowledge about it)

For those of you curious about this option and for those of you skeptical of it, please review these reasons others in your community chose cremation services for their loved one or for their pre-plan:

  • Cost: cremation services are typically thousands of dollars less than traditional burial services—especially here at Davis-Struempf, where our crematory is on site. This mitigates transportation fees associated with cremations handled by a funeral home without their own crematory.
  • After-death pre-plan: often, the decision to cremate was made by the deceased loved one during their lifetime in a will or pre-plan.
  • Flexible memorial/funeral service options: when you or your loved has chosen cremation services, time is no longer as pressing as with traditional burials. This means that, because the body’s natural decomposition process is no longer dictating a tight timeline for the family and friends to gather, loved ones can take their time planning—a lovely gift for the grieving.
  • Environmental concerns: traditional burials involve the use of powerful chemicals and formaldehyde. Further, casketed burials and entombment require land space, which is a finite resource and will, eventually, run out.
  • Religious restrictions have diminished: in past decades, certain religions and denominations strongly prohibited the cremation of the deceased. This hesitation has lifted, worldwide, as progressive lifestyles continue to shape and mold our culture. We want you to know that whatever your beliefs are, our staff here at Davis-Struempf will be honored to assist you.
  • The geographic spread of families: it used to be that families remained close by their other family members (on the “home front” or just down the road/across town). Now more than ever, families are living in other states, regions of the country, and internationally. This has led to a diminished view of what we call “geographical roots,” which has subsequently lead to the rise of cremation services as a commonplace option.

We hope this bit of information has helped. Please know our staff is here for you during this difficult time. Give Davis-Struempf Funeral Home & Crematory a call today.
